The following document must be read thoroughly. By registering for Born to Drum Camp you agree to the terms of the document.
Born to Drum RULES AND REGULATIONS
Smoking. No smoking isallowed in any of the camp buildings in accordance with California law, including but not limited to all sleeping areas, the dining hall and the classrooms. Smoking also is not allowed on any trails, program areas or in front of the entrance to any of the camp buildings. Smoking is allowed only in designated areas. Please take all precautions to prevent fires and dispose of cigarette butts properly.
Music Curfew. Music is notallowed to be played outside between the hours of 10:00 p.m. and 8:00 a.m. unless there is a Born to Drum program. Music is allowed only in the designated classrooms during these hours.
Hiking. Stay on established trails. For your safety, we recommend that you do not hike alone.
Collection of items. Collection of plants, rocks, shells, or other items is not allowed.
Littering. Littering and destruction or removal of any part of the Walker Creek Ranch resources is prohibited.
Drugs. The use of illegal drugs is strictly forbidden. Prescription drugs are permitted with a valid physician’s prescription.
Pets. No pets are allowed at camp.
Firearms and Other Fire Dangers. No firearms, ammunition or weapons of any kind are allowed at camp and are subject to confiscation, if brought. No Fires are permitted other than as provided by the camp.
Driving and Parking. Parking is limited. Please park in designated parking areas only. Camp roads must be kept clear in case emergency vehicles have to get through.
Clean up. Please help to maintain the facilities by picking up trash and recyclables, limiting use of disposable paper and plastic products, and turning off faucets and light switches when not needed.
Please clean up your sleeping area when you prepare to depart from camp on Sunday.
Swimming. Swimming is available at Turtle Pond. Swimming is allowed only when the certified lifeguard provided by the camp is present. Swimming hours will be posted. Nudity is not allowed at Turtle Pond.
Personal Belongings. The Walker Creek Ranch and Born to Drum assume no responsibility for loss of or damage to personal property. Please do not bring unnecessary items of value.
Photographs and Videos. There will be a designated camp photographer and a videographer at camp. These media materials will be used for Born to Drum and Women Drummers International promotional purposes only.
The following apply to campers:
Video photography is not allowed during any camp activity.
Please ask the teacher about taking still photos during classes.
Flash photography is not allowed during teacher performances.
Photography is not allowed during the opening and closing ceremonies.
Please respect our faculty by asking their permission before taking their picture.
Recording: Please ask the teacher about recording classes if they do not announce their policy. Recording of performances is not allowed.
Meals. See the daily schedule for meal times. Please be on time for meals. If you bring food or medication that requires refrigeration you may use the refrigerator in the Naturalists Kitchen next to the Muir room.
Please do not bring any food into the residence halls as these can attract animals.
Phones and Emergency Messages.During business hours (8am to 5pm) an emergency message can be left for you at the Ranch office at 415-491-6603.
Two payphones are available for guests at the Ranch Office (415-663-9904) and Buckeye Meeting Room deck (415-663-9907). These phones are set up to receive calls. There are no arrangements to take messages at these phones. Wireless computer service is available and you can also be reached by email.
Camp Activities. As a courtesy to our faculty and sister students, please arrive to classes and other activities on time.
MEDIA RELEASE
During the weekend of Born to Drum Women’s Drum Camp, there will be designated photographers taking photos and videos for Born to Drum and Women Drummers International promotional purposes. By registering for camp, you are authorizing that any media taken of you during Born to Drum Women’s Drum Camp may be used by Born to Drum and Women Drummers International for promotional purposes.
