You were Born to Drum!
And you proved that at Born to Drum Women's Drum Camp 2008!

We hope you had a wonderful camp.  We also hope you'll let us know, if you haven't already, what worked for you and where you would like to see improvements and changes.  You can download the evaluation form (.pdf file) and email it back to us when you've completed it or send it by regular mail to Born to Drum, P.O. Box 3715, Oakland, CA 94609.

We send a special thanks to our faculty and staff, including the twenty-five women who attended through the Work Study program and the many volunteers who lent a hand before, during, and after camp.

Most of all, we are grateful to the women who attended camp and brought their many gifts to bear on the week-end.  It was a joy to see you there and to share this event with you.  Many of you also donated to our Work Study fund, which made it possible for 25 women to attend camp (and if you haven't donated yet, you can do so here).  Our goal is to continue to make Born to Drum financially accessible to all women and your generous support helped us toward this goal.  Thank you from all of us.

This year we held our first concert -- an amazing event that we hope to make a tradition -- at La Pena Cultural Center.  Thanks to La Pena for their support and for all the work they've done over the years to create and maintain a cultural center for our community.

Thanks to the Patsy Lu Fund and the Open Meadows Foundation for their generous grant in support of this concert.

The following businesses provided in kind support for the concert and the camp.  We are lucky to be in a community where this support is available and hope that we will all in turn support these businesses:

Berkeley Bowl Market
Berkeley Natural Grocery
Cheese N Stuff, Berkeley
Peet's Coffee and Tea, Berkeley
Rico's catering, San Francisco
Trader Joes, Rockridge

Born to Drum 2008 Women's Drum Camp offered women three days of drum classes, performances, and gatherings with women who are master drummers from many traditions.  This summer we gathered on July 18, 19, and 20 at Walker Creek Ranch.  Photos and a video are coming soon.   Meanwhile, you can check out the photos and video from Born to Drum 2006 and the photos from Born to Drum 2007 to get a sense of the experience at camp.  Photos and bios of teachers are on our faculty page.

Donations: The Work Study program helps us to make Born to Drum accessible to all women.  Your donation will help us make camp available to women who would otherwise be unable to attend.  Donate online below or send a check to Born to Drum.

Volunteer Opportunities: We will need your support in all sorts of ways throughout the year.  As we plan for Born to Drum 2009 and other events, we're making a wish list of ways that women can participate in Born to Drum at a deeper level. If you have talents you'd like to share, contact us and we'll find a way to work with you.
